Beatnik of the Cloth

I am not a poet. I tried once, but I was really bad. I did find this poem over at jeremybear.com and thought it was interesting. I am not sure who wrote it.

While out sailing on the ocean,
While out sailing on the sea,
I bumped into the Savior
And He said, "pardon me."
I said "Jesus, you look tired"
He said "Jesus, so do you.
Sit down, son,
'Cause we got some fat to chew"

Björk...the other white meat

Ok ok ok. So I am a closeted Björk listener. I like her work. Her music is mostly off-kilter and she can be a bit over-the-top, but some of her stuff is really quite good. I have a remix version of "All Neon Like." It’s an MP3 that I downloaded back before the whole Napster fiasco hit the fan. It is a great version of the song. The problem is it is only about half there. I have been trying to find it, but to no avail. It is subtitled "Lonny Lord Remix." Is there anyone out there who could help me track down a full and legal-beagle version of this song? If so contact me.

Until next time.

Go ye therefore and visit ZOLTRON.com

My blog, my standards.

That being said, I am a visual person, I like interesting design ideas and concept art. Sometimes I will buy a CD simply because I like the cover art (well I used to do that…then I had a family and went to seminary and became poor so I just admire pretty CD art from afar).

Those of you who know me know that I am something of a Primus fan, I have been for a long, long time. Any, the Colonel (Les Claypool) and the boys not only make some of today’s best music but they use a ton of interesting visual design in their promotional material, websites, and CD covers. While perusing Primus’ home page one time (www.primussucks.com) I stumbled across Zoltron.com. I am not sure what association Zoltron has with Primus, but they do a lot of design work for Claypool’s various projects. The pic to the right is one of Zoltron's designs. Nifty.

Interesting stuff. Go visit their site right now. Run, quick like a bunny.

D*Face - Hooliganism with Class

Graffiti has come a very long way. I am not even sure that this guy wouldn’t slap me for calling his work “graffiti.” Interesting stuff. I have always liked the idea of making visual art with temporary mediums. Sidewalk art, graffiti, tagging, etc. It seems very postmodern to me. You know, taking art away from the academy and high society and putting it out in to the streets…out in to the hands of the people, the hoi polloi.

I like this guy’s work. Check it out (www.dface.co.uk), be inspired. But if you are inspired to make your own graffiti, understand that Johnny Law calls this “vandalism,” and he will be angry with you if you get caught. If you DO get caught, don’t blame it on me. I am just a country preacher who doesn’t know any better.
